Steve of Apex Jr. has sent news of a sale of some Alesis Switcher units. Those have been used by Alesis to demo their reverberation effect boxes. The Switcher has a stereo input via two RCA jacks, a front mono jack (good for a guitar player), and outputs to 4 TS jacks and two separate headphone amplifier outputs (two full-size jacks).

This could be a really useful piece of kit for a small studio; two people could listen to a mix through headphones, or, say, a keyboard player and a guitar player could jam together without using speakers.
More details in this forum thread; the Apex Jr. website doesn’t have this sale listed yet.

Some notes on the effect the FiiO E3 amp has on different headphones: AKG-K240 Studio with Sweetcome cable, OVC HC1000, Denon AH-D1000. The FiiO E3 mini-amp costs less than $10, and is certainly worth the money. Anyone owning a portable player without an amp should get one.

The FiiO E3 also has a great synergy with the OVC HC1000 headphones. OVC HC1000 cost $49 (plus $5 or $10 shipping) from Head-Direct, and are perhaps the first “portable” headphones that can compete not only with the likes of Sennheiser PX100/PX200, but also with more expensive gear. HC1000 and the FiiO E3 amp paired are at least as good (at the same, if not better, level of clarity/detail/dynamics, though slightly less bassy) as the Denon AH-D1000, worth $120-170 (depending on store). Less than $75 of headphone gear performing as well as a set of headphones worth two to three times as much.

The new forum is up, and it’s been a much better ride so far than the glitchy and spambot-vulnerable PHPBB 2 that was driving the previous forum install.
Of course, everyone’s invited to join - the new forums are a delight in comparison, Simple Machines Forum engine has many more features than the old PHPBB, and there’re several avatar galleries waiting to be used.
Some of the old links still point to the old forum posts, the forum review links have been updated, also the old musume threads were looked for; the old musume posts have been updated with new forum links. The two threads have wallpapers and original headphone musume drawings.

Thread #1 - 1024*768 drawings, great as wallpaper (or slideshow wallpapers, for those blessed with a modern Unix OS).

Thread #2 - a mixture of manga (and a few European) drawings of all sizes.
Finally, some of the images on the frontpage and in blog posts had their img tag coordinates set to negative (like -30 and -40 width and height). This might be a Wordpress graphic editor glitch. It affects Opera, not Mozilla browsers it seems. Mozilla browsers discard negative coordinates automatically, whereas Opera displays affected images as squeezed image bars.

The forum has been migrated to a Simple Machines install. The new URL for the forum is http://www.headphonedeals.org/smf - any old bookmarks are obviously invalid.
Creative DJ headphones? Strange one this. There’s much to like about them, but what about the sound? That’s what’s strange. Click the image to read the full review. Loads of pictures as per usual.

Grado SR60’s on sale.

Still waiting for them to burn in, but read my initial impressions.
click the image below for more info.

After about an hour or so of burn in with the Creative Aurvana DJ headphones, I heave to say that I’m not fully converted yet. However they are warming up. See what else I have to say about them.
The Second CMoy amp review is here!
It seems that my opinions on whether we need an amp or not, has sparked a bit of heated discussion. Anyway click the image below to read the full review, and see what the argument is all about.

The Question was: Are the Goldring’s the new ‘Kings Of Bass’? Click the image below and find the answer.

we at headphonedeals have launched our third and by no means last site. We decided that there are many overpriced products on the market, all undeservedly wanted your hard earned money, and so we’ve chosen to focus on CMoy amps, with the task of finding out, if the CMoy amp can compete with the bigger boys.
